  • Pēteris Vaickovskis
    Board member, conductor, bass, artistic director
    Pēteris Vaickovskis has earned a master’s degree from Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, majoring in choral conducting under Sigvards Kļava. Additionally, Vaickovskis studied the trombone, organ, and harpsichord. He expanded theoretical and practical knowledge of early music at the Amsterdam University of Arts under professors Jos Vermunt and Jos van Veldhoven. Vaickovskis furthered his knowledge with Dirk Snelling, Doulce Mémoire, Paul Hillier, Peter Phillips and other Early music specialists.
    Pēteris Vaickovskis ir the founder and artistic director of the early music ensemble Ars Antiqua Riga (since 2013) and has been a singer since 2011, as well as the choirmaster since 2024 of the Latvian Radio Choir. Also Pēteris is a member of the Riga Sackbut Consort (since 2021).
    Last season, Vaickovskis participated in Andrew Lawrence-King's (conductor and composer) Claudio Monteverdi restored opera Arianna a la recherche, which was performed in Estonia. He also performed in Belgium and France with one of the most outstanding Flemish early music ensemble Vox Luminis. With the early music ensemble Ars Antiqua Riga Vaickovskis participated in early music festival Aurore 2024 in Helsinki, Finland.

  • Kristiāna Vaickovska
    Board member, conductor, musicologist, producer & project manager
    Kristiāna Vaickovska is studying historical musicology in the doctoral program at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA). She has obtained an Academic Master's degree in Musicology with a specialization in Music History and a Professional Master's degree in Choir Conducting. Theoretical and practical knowledge of Baroque music is complemented at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Also studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Vienna Academy of Music and Fine Arts. Knowledge has been supplemented in the masterclasses by Per Borin, Erik Van Nevel, Raphael Immoos, Dirk Snelling's choir singing and conducting masterclasses, as well as in the orchestral conducting masterclasses of the Zsolt Nagy Orchestra.
    Currently she is the researcher of The State Research Programme “Latvian Culture – a Resource for National Development” – Project CERS (2023–2026), she has been a former researcher of "Research of Sacred Music Heritage in Latvian Lutheran Churches", (JVLMA, 2018), as well as a member of the working group "Liepāja Holy Trinity Cathedral Inventory and Cataloging ", (JVLMA, 2011). Kristiāna is the artistic director and conductor of the University of Latvia Chamber Choir “DeCoro” and also working as an expert at the Latvian Music Information Centre.
